Chris Boyd

General Manager for Building Water Health, NSF Health Sciences

Chris Boyd has worked with communities, elected officials, governmental agencies, and non-governmental and private sector stakeholders for over 25 years, addressing a wide range of pressing social, economic, environmental and public health challenges. His team supports stakeholders’ efforts to consistently control risks across diverse building water systems and building typologies, including organizing the annual Legionella Conference. Prior to NSF, Chris was Assistant Commissioner for Environmental Sciences & Engineering at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, where he led the agency’s environmental response to one of the largest Legionella outbreaks in the U.S. and oversaw the implementation of the first proactive risk management standards for cooling towers in North America. He was responsible for regulatory oversight of NYC’s municipal and recreational water systems, radiation-producing equipment and radioactive materials, and supported emergency planning and response efforts.
